was started in the year 1986 at Balagangadharanatha Nagar (B.G.Nagar) located
in 200 acre plot along NH 48, 107 KM from Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka
State. It is premier rural educational institution catering to the health needs
of the rural populace in preventive, therapeutic and rehabilitative domains
beside teaching and training for Undergraduate (UG) of MBBS and Post Graduate
(PG) students. The Institutions is recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI)
and General Medical Council of UK.

Laboratories of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur the pre, Para Clinical and Clinical
departments are having fully equipped and well maintained laboratories. They
serve the teaching and the Diagnostic procedures. The departments of Pathology,
Microbiology, Biochemistry, Radiology, Medicine, Anesthesiology and
Oerthopaedics possess modern high-tech instruments are mentioned earlier. The
diagnostic procedures that the carried out are on par with the prescribed
International Standards.
Central Library of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur is proud of good and comprehensive
central library with most modern facilities catering to the academic needs of
students and the teaching community. It is updated with modern devices of
information technology. It is housed in a spacious building of 1194.90 sq. mts
having following sections.
Lecture halls of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur there are six spacious lecture
halls existing in the college and 4 lecture halls existing in AH & RC. Two
of which accommodate around 200 students while the latter can accommodate 100
students. Each lecture hall is well ventilated and illuminated with comfortable
seating arrangements. They are provided with audiovisual instruments. In
addition to the above lecture halls to facilitate and promote teaching and
training, each department is provided with seminar halls with Audio-Visual
aids.
Ladies Hostel of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur consists of a vast spacious
building with 112 rooms accommodating about 240 students. Warden, Assistant
warden and other managerial staff will look after the maintenance of the
hostel. The hostel is endowed with library facilities, indoor games like Table
Tennis and shuttle cock. It is also provided with diesel generator in the event
of electricity failure as a backup facility.
Staff Members of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur both teaching and non teaching
staff members are given accommodation in the staff quarters of the AIMS campus
which is well furnished and ventilated. Convert and school are existing to meet
the educational needs of the children of the staff members. Bachelor’s
quarters are also available for interns present in the Adichunchanagiri
Complex. Working women's hostel also exists to cater to the needs of the
individuals, which is located in the women hostel complex.
Sports Selection of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur present with the physical director
and the sports secretary as the head of the section. The department encourages
the sports activities among the students. It also provides the opportunity for
the sport persons to participate in the inter collegiate competitions, State
and National level competitions Indoor games like table tennis and shuttle cock
and outdoor games like football, tennis, cricket, basket ball and athletic
events are also played. The students have won championship and trophies in
various inter-collegiate sports competitions.
Transport System of Adichunchanagiri
Institute of Medical Sciences - AIMS Bellur possesses Omni buses for commuting
students from the hostels to the hospital and the other peripheral rural health
centers for the purposes of teaching and training programmes. The vans are
present 4 in number for the staff and the students for providing community
health care. There are two ambulances attached to AH & RC, which are well
organized throughout 24 hours, and each one of them is equipped with
cardiopulmonary resuscitators with trained and qualified medical and
paramedical staff, Emergency drugs, and oxygen cylinder. Being a referral
hospital the ambulance service is made use of to bring the patients from the
neighboring hospitals and districts. Educational tours are conducted
periodically by suing the college omnibus services.

Infrastructure:
AIMS is housed in a unitary campus
near the teaching hospital and has room for future expansion. The buildings are
well-constructed with good ventilation and comfortable seating
arrangements. The laboratories are constructed with sufficient space and
contain modern equipment for conducting medical research.
Accommodation is provided for the
Principal/Dean’s Office, Staff Room, College Council Room, Office
Superintendent Room, Office, Record Room, Examination Hall, separate common
room for male and female students with attached toilets and cafeteria.
AIMS has adequate lecture theatres
to accommodate sufficient number of students and is equipped with good acoustics,
independent audio visual aids including LCD projectors, Speakers and a
microphone.
Library
AIMS is equipped with a
comprehensive central library with modern facilities catering to the academic
needs of students and the teaching community. The library is housed in a
spacious area of 2500 sq. mts. The interior is well furnished and designed with
adequate partitions to enable students to spend quality time without being
disturbed by the others.
The library has a wide collection of
text books, reference material, monographs, Govt. publications, dissertations,
reports, pamphlets, periodicals and audio visual cassettes.
Literature search, Bibliographies,
current awareness services, selective dissemination of information, abstracting
and indexing services, Medlars / Medline, E-mail / Internet services,
consultancy, photo copying, reference and referral services are made available
for the benefit of the users.
A digital library facility is
introduced for disseminating and retrieving health science information by means
of computer communication / networking.
In addition to the central library,
library facilities are also available in the men’s and women’s hostels. The
library is opened from 9am to 10pm on all working days including Sundays and
general holidays and from 9am to 12 midnight during University examination.
To facilitate the staff and post
graduate students to have easy access, a separate library has been opened in
the hospital. which functions till 11pm.
The library has access to thousands
of electronic journals, e-books, various inline databases like science direct,
OVID, oxford, MD-consultant, CME’s, Clinics of North America and so on from
HELINET Consortia of RGUHS, Bangalore. It also facilitates for open source
information databases such as medIND, IndMED, MEDLINE and other popular
databases from NLM.
